Election 2025: Strengthening the Canadian Economy with Live Music
#CanadaIsLiveMusic is a simple, clear statement amplifying live music’s intrinsic relationship with Canada and Canadian (as well as International) fans. It underscores our unique ability to create significant economic impact, while bringing people and communities together through music made by our incredible artists.
This new public awareness campaign is being framed by the economic data found in the recently released “Hear and Now” study, and is a call to action for industry, fans, and governments to consider more deeply leveraging the power and potential of live music activity in the face of change and new opportunity.
It’s Time to Tell Our Story! Here’s how….
Step 1: Send a letter in seconds to all candidates in your riding
Send a letter to your candidates asking them to get serious about their local live music economy and ecosystem. Customize the letter with your own story and/or simply send our template, all in seconds and with the click of a button. This is where you will find our budget recommendations and more. Your letter will also be sent to all of Canada's main political party leaders.
Step 2: Use our digital toolkit and post on social media
Check out the eye-catching campaign assets for use on social media to reach your candidates. Our infographics tell the story of live music with new data and statistics that resonate.
Here are some creative ways to engage beyond posting:
Temporarily replace your cover and/or profile photo with a branded image (eg. on Facebook or Instagram)
Put a link to the campaign on your website
Use pictures of your own venue/festival/show, etc. to help personalize your story
Add information about, and links to, the campaign in your email signature
Send word of the campaign out in a newsletter, share it with your mailing list
Put a note in your calendar to engage once a day with different candidates
Share the campaign with your local Chamber of Commerce, BIA, and Downtown Association – this impacts all local businesses
Reach out to/tag your local tourism Destination Marketing Organizations and Regional Tourism Organizations
Use the letter template to talk about your business/organization and your reality
Step 3: Use the hashtag #CanadaIsLiveMusic
Help us to track our impact, spread the word, and be part of the momentum. Don’t forget to tag the CLMA every time so we can amplify! Keep in touch with the CLMA. Share feedback, questions, interactions, and testimonials with us.

Step 4: Tag your candidates
Make sure those running for election in your riding can interact with your social media posts. The campaign is aimed at educating all parties and the private sector. The impact of your organization in your riding matters — let’s make sure everyone knows that. (Don’t forget to thank them for running for public office; it’s a hard job. When they are elected, we will be partners.)
Looking for your handles and contact information for candidates?
Step 5: What’s the timeline?
The CLMA is going to promote this campaign and ask you to engage as often as possible until April 28th, 2025 - election day.
Step 6: Take a bow, you are making a difference!
Thank you.
We must elect politicians who will prioritize our rights, freedom, values, democracy, sovereignty, and what it means to be Canadian. Because…
Canada has an unparalleled opportunity to lead here at home and around the world by harnessing the power of live music. Building capacity, and incentivizing risk-taking, innovation, and growth across the ecosystem will help to maximize prosperity through our contributions and impact.
